Morning Shades of White and Grey

A brand new day has just been born
A bright new sun shines on the fresh morn
And the light and sparkling silver sky
Is freshly cleaned and hung to dry.

So far above in this silent sky,
The stars fade out, and the clouds roll by
Down below on the earth so fair,
Flowers unfurl to catch the sweet air.
A fawn wakes up and steps outside
And a bat flies swiftly home to hide.

But all is not well in this shining day
Where eagles soar and chipmunks play
All is not perfect and all is not good
Not all things can be like the peaceful wood
That’s tainted not by liars and thieves
And no cold blood spills beneath whispering eaves.

All is not perfect, but all is not bad
All is not happy, and all is not sad.
Down in the chasm are death and despair,
Up on the mountain are peace and fresh air.
On the wide road there lurk liars and strife,
And on the narrow are true friends and life.

A bird will sing softly to herald the dawn
Hearts have been broken, and yet love goes on.
One life is lost into unending night
And another goes forth from the darkness to light.
Bodies are fragile but spirits are strong
and when morning arrives, the bird still sings its song.
